# Content model

This page records the public conceptual model. It is not the internal database schema and does not disclose implementation details that have not been confirmed.

## Confirmed concepts

- **Archive record:** A discoverable record within the botanical classics archive.
- **Classical source:** The work or historical source to which a record is connected.
- **Edition and locator:** Edition context plus a volume, page, accession or other traceable locator where available.
- **Historical name:** A recorded name or alias preserved with its source context.
- **Historical illustration:** A documented image connected to its work, edition, collection or rights record.
- **Provenance and rights:** Source, collection, accession and rights context shown close to the material it describes.
- **Personal state:** Favorites, reading history and notes stored on the user's device.
- **Discovery layer:** Local search and multilingual metadata used to find records and sources.

## Relationship principle

An archive record is useful only when its relationships remain visible. Names, images, editions, locators, collections and rights records should point back to their evidence instead of being flattened into unsupported facts.

## Not published

The internal field names, data types, identifiers, cardinality, record counts, ingestion pipeline, validation rules and migration strategy are not part of the current public record.
